Question
How will the CAR project affect me in the future?
Answer
There will be more opportunities for CIS staff to be involved as projects roll out. This could provide CIS staff with new opportunities to refine, update, or change their skill sets. Participation in any activity is strictly voluntary—staff can get involved as much or as little as time in their schedule permits. Ultimately CAR will be absorbed by CIS and is a “Proof of Concept” for how new projects may be handled by CIS in the future.
Question
Is there a way for CIS staff to participate in the CAR project?
Answer
There are a lot of new technologies and strategies we are using for our projects. The best way to find out if there’s an opportunity for you is to come down to the office and find out what we’re up to. Then feel free to share your skill sets and interests with us. This is a growing initiative and we want you to be able to grow too.
Question
What is the plan for allocating CIS staff time to this project when so many are bogged down with Re-Hosting and the day-to-day support of the colleges?
Answer
We understand that because of Re-Hosting the CIS staff is busy, and that is why we are using mostly contractors at this point. Ultimately, this is a CIS-run initiative.
Question
How does CIS staff gain access to information about on-going activities with CAR so we can be better prepared to consume its projects at the turnover point?
Answer
Check our web site often for current updates. As for the long-term, a transition plan has not been developed yet. The CAR project team will also provide updates during the Learn at Lunch Series. This is a series of one-hour overviews that will be held at lunchtime most Wednesdays. These sessions will focus on new technologies being leveraged in the CAR projects as well as updates to project progress.
