Planning Process

ITPG created the Washington Community & Technical College (WCTC) technology planning process to provide guidance to the various commissions and associated councils in developing technology initiative proposals. Proposals are gathered every second year with updates each year.

The WCTC technology planning process is as follows:

1. ITPG sends an announcement to the commissions asking for technology initiative proposals.
2. The commissions, in collaboration with their associated councils, develop a list of prioritized initiative proposals. All proposals must address one or more of the ITPG cornerstones. For more information, see ITPG Cornerstones (Word).
3. ITPG collects the initiative proposals and creates the ITPG Technology Initiative Matrix (Excel).
4. ITPG reviews the initiative proposals and determines which ones will require considerable Center for Information Services (CIS) involvement. These initiative proposals are kept on the ITPG technology initiative matrix for consideration after the completion of Phase I of the Re-Hosting Project.
5. ITPG sends the remaining initiative proposals to the Information Technology Commission (ITC) for further refinement. (Note: ITC is the only commission that does not submit technology initiative proposals to ITPG).
6. With the help of the submitting commissions, an ITC subcommittee further refines the initiative proposals.
7. ITC submits the refined initiative proposals to ITPG which prioritizes them using a Rating Scale (Excel).
8. ITPG forwards its prioritized list of technology initiative proposals to the CIS Executive Committee which ultimately determines which proposals will be further developed.
